Adrianna van Leeuwen, is a Canadian clarinettist specialising in period instrument performance, particularly of the Classical and early Romantic. She has collaborated with many ensembles both locally within the Netherlands and abroad. Most recent, include engagements with MusiceAeterna (RU), The Orchestra of the 18th Century, Bach Orchestra of the Netherlands and Les Vents Atlantiques Chamber Orchestra (NL). Adrianna has been invited to participate at many festivals such as the Oregon Bach Festival (USA), Vancouver Early Music Summer Festival, Domaine Forget, and the Orford Art Centre (CAN). She has also attended masterclasses with the likes of Guy van Waas, Wilbert Hazelzet, Marc Destrubé, Rainer Zipplering and Charles Niedich.
Adrianna’s passion for chamber music has culminated in the founding of two successful ensembles. The Swedish based group Boxwood & Bows and the Dutch based duo the Küffner Gals.
Adrianna is an accomplished and experienced player, having attained her Bachelor’s degree with distinction in modern clarinet performance from the University of Calgary (CAN). She recently graduated from the class of Professor Eric Hoeprich at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag (NL) with her second Bachelors degree in Historical Clarinet and Chalumeaux. This fall 2016, Adrianna will continue with her Masters, where she will focus her research on the ambivalent repertoire and development of the clarinet from the end of the Baroque to the early 1770’s.
Adrianna is currently based in the Rotterdam area, the Netherlands.
